Sunflower seed

They may contain higher amounts of histamine, individual tolerance.

Unsuitable

This food is often poorly tolerated with histamine intolerance.

Sunflower seeds may have a moderate histamine content. Some sources state that they may be problematic for people with histamine intolerance, so caution and individual tolerance testing is advised. In addition to histamine itself, the seeds may also contain other biogenic amines that burden the DAO enzyme, or function as so-called liberators (releasers) of the body's own histamine. Their susceptibility to rancidity is also a risk factor, where oxidized fats can further worsen unpleasant symptoms. When testing, it is therefore recommended to start with a small amount of fresh, unroasted seeds and monitor the reaction of the organism.

According to the Swiss SIGHI list, they are classified as Level 2, meaning they are unsuitable.
