Almond

Caution

May cause symptoms in more sensitive people. Track your own reaction.

Almonds (unsalted, unroasted) have a low content of biogenic amines. They are classified as a 1 on the SIGHI list, which means they are usually well-tolerated in smaller amounts, but can occasionally be poorly tolerated. Although they do not have a high histamine content themselves, nuts as a broader category tend to be highly individual in how problematic they are for patients with histamine intolerance, and they can act as mild histamine liberators or contain other biogenic amines. For this reason, increased caution, gradual testing of individual tolerance, and consumption only in limited portions are recommended when introducing them into the diet.
